Who is GiGi Goode?
GiGi Goode is a Los Angeles-based drag entertainer who has appeared in season 12 of RuPauls Drag Race, and has been in multiple music videos, and Rihanna’s Savage X Fenty fashion show. She was born and raised in Woodstock, Illinois and has been awarded the People’s Choice Award for Competition Contestant. GiGi Goode is associated with the House of Avalon, with one of the house’s members being season 13 Drag Race winner, Symone.
Early Life and Background
GiGi Goode was born on December 2nd, 1997, in Woodstock Illinois, whose mother was a professional costume and interior designer (she helped create GiGi’s looks for RuPaul’s Drag Race). GiGi Goode originally went to college for Art, but dropped out to move to Los Angeles. Growing up, GiGi learned about the LGBT community through their gay uncle, and started drag at the age of 15 performing locally. GiGi Goode identifies as Transgender and Non-Binary, and uses She/Her pronouns.
Career Beginnings
GiGi became a contestant on RuPaul’s Drag Race in 2020, also being the youngest on her season (age 21), and was runner-up to Jaida Essence Hall with 4 challenge wins consisting of the Ball Ball design challenge, the Snatch Game as Maria the Robot, the Madonna Unauthorized Ru-sical, and the VEGAS! Performance show.
After Drag Race, GiGi Goode participated in Werq The World Battle Royale, and in the Drive N Drag series during the COVID-19 pandemic, and was later a part of World of Wonder’s Halloween special that same year. GiGi Goode has also appeared in Rihanna’s Savage X Fenty fashion show, and in multiple music videos for Sam Smith and Chester Lockhart. Outside of drag, GiGi has had a lip kit collaboration with Christian Audette, and is a stylist to singer Lizzo.
Drag Style and Aesthetic
GiGi Goode’s name comes from her last name, and from the character Fiona Goode from American Horror Story, season 3: Coven. On stage, GiGi takes on more of a camp/comedy persona with high-fashion outfits. In GiGi’s early years, her fashion was inspired by 1940’s and 1950’s costume illustrations, whereas now, GiGi is inspired by couture fashion magazines like Vogue.
